I hope that everyone’s first week of 2022 is living up to their expectations. I hope that you are sticking to your goals and your commitments and I hope that things stay on the right track for you. In previous years, this is about the time when things begin to get hard. The first week is easy, you’re motivated, you are excited & everything feels natural. When you get to week two you start to realize that things are harder than you originally thought and it’s going to take a lot of discipline to stick to your goals. I’m here to tell you STICK TO YOUR GOALS!!
Something that I have started this year that I have not done in previous years is setting intentions for my year. This is something that is going to help to keep me on track, and something that I can revisit as often as I need to remind me of what my goals are, why I want to accomplish them, what my intentions are, and to inspire me to accomplish them.
The first step to setting intentions is to know your goals, so If you don’t have goals set for this year yet, check out Three Easy Steps to Achieve Your Goals in 2022. Without having goals set, you won’t be able to move on with the intention setting, so start there. If you already have your goals for this year, you need to make sure that you have a solid ‘why’. This will help you gain clarity on the reasoning behind your wanting to accomplish this goal. Once you have your goals and your ‘why’, we can now move into intention setting.
My first recommendation is to visualize what you want the outcome and process of your goal to look like. Visualization can be strictly in your head, or you can look online for inspiration ideas. You may even want to create a vision board that is directly related to each of your goals. To help build the foundation for how this works I will walk you through my process for one of my own goals at the end of this post.
After you have a clear idea of what your goal will look like at the end, and during the journey, you are ready to set your intention. Your intention needs to be something that is true to you. You will have to figure out what it is that you truly want and then you will need to write it out in two different formats.
Law of Attraction: I AM ______________
Present Moment (Goal): I AM COMMITTED __________________
The first format, the Law of Attraction, is to affirm your intention as having already happened. You write it out as if it were true in the present moment (again see below for a better example). The second format, the Present Moment/Goal format is to show exactly what your intention is over the next year. So it is showing that you are committed to accomplishing the said goal.
My Personal Example:
In 2022 my goal is to get into the best shape of my life. growing up I was a competitive dancer so I spent a lot of time exercising and feeling good, but even then I was never committed to actually feeling good. I just exercised because I loved the sport. Now, after almost 5 years without dancing, I am realizing that I am in the worst shape of my life. While I have maintained a consistent weight for years, my muscle mass, eating habits, strength, and stamina are at an all-time low. So my goal is to get into the best shape of my life. My first step is to visualize, see my vision board for getting into the best shape below:
Creating this vision board took about 10 minutes and I just used Pinterest. I like to have the physical vision board so that I can revisit it, but as I said, you don’t have to. You can just visualize in your head what you want from your goal and go from there.
Now that I have a visual depiction of what my goal will look like while I am working towards it and after I accomplish it, I am going to write out my intention & affirmation.
Law of Attraction: I AM in the BEST shape of my LIFE
Present Moment (Goal): I AM COMMITTED to becoming the healthiest version of myself by getting into the BEST shape of my life!
I hope that you have learned something from this post today and I hope that you set your own intentions to help you stay more focused on your goal this year. Comment down below, what are your intentions for 2022?
Thank you so much for reading and we will see you again next week!
